Newton – AG Atrium | WIP
TYPE: Workplace
CLIENT: AG Real State
LOCATION: Avenue de Cortenbergh – Brussels
SIZE: 1.300 m²
STATUS: Under Construction
We are currently developing the execution preparation for the entrance area, elevator halls, and atrium of the Newton Building, as part of its ongoing renovation led by AG Real Estate in collaboration with Jaspers-Eyers Architects.
While our mission initially focused on the design and refurbishment of the atrium, the client entrusted us with going beyond our usual scope as interior architects. Rather than intervening only within the existing architectural framework, we were asked to approach the atrium holistically and to develop the concept for its interior façades as an integral part of the spatial transformation. In dialogue with the architects and in alignment with their global vision for the building, we conceived the interior façades as a key element of the intervention, preserving the existing corpus and its voids while giving them renewed presence, coherence, and identity.
Through transparency, layering, and refined detailing, the atrium is reimagined as a poetic yet contemporary cloister, an inner façade framing its central “square” like a garden, bringing lightness and depth to the space. To activate the volume, suspended meeting rooms animate the interior façade and enhance the vertical dimension.
The atrium becomes a vibrant, multifunctional hub, with a reception strategically placed near the visitors’ area, a central bar acting as a social anchor, self-service and eat-and-meet spaces offering a range of atmospheres from open lounges to more intimate settings, and generous meeting rooms and an auditorium located towards the employees’ entrance, all ensuring fluid circulation and a dynamic, welcoming daily environment.
