CLIENT: AG Real State
LOCATION: Avenue de Cortenbergh – Brussels
SIZE: 1.300
STATUS: Under Construction

We are currently developing the execution preparation for the entrance area, elevator halls, and atrium of the Newton Building, as part of its ongoing renovation led by AG Real Estate in collaboration with Jaspers-Eyers Architects.

While our mission initially focused on the design and refurbishment of the atrium, the client entrusted us with going beyond our usual scope as interior architects. Rather than intervening only within the existing architectural framework, we were asked to approach the atrium holistically and to develop the concept for its interior façades as an integral part of the spatial transformation. In dialogue with the architects and in alignment with their global vision for the building, we conceived the interior façades as a key element of the intervention, preserving the existing corpus and its voids while giving them renewed presence, coherence, and identity.

The intervention preserves the existing structure and its voids while redefining their presence with a renewed sense of coherence and identity. A delicate mesh layer wraps the façades like a second skin, embedding bespoke lighting that transforms the space into a dynamic generator of atmospheres and shifting visual scenes.

Through transparency, layering, and carefully calibrated detailing, the atrium is reinterpreted as a contemporary cloister, both serene and expressive. Materiality plays a key role in this narrative: from the grounded, mineral character of the lower levels to the progressively lighter and more ethereal expression of the upper zones, where the mesh becomes increasingly present.

Suspended meeting rooms are introduced within the volume, activating the vertical dimension and bringing life to the interior façades as well as function.

The atrium evolves into a vibrant, multifunctional hub. A reception area anchors the visitor experience, while a central bar acts as a social catalyst. A variety of spaces, from open lounges to more intimate eat-and-meet settings, offer diverse atmospheres throughout the day. Different types of meeting rooms and an auditorium are positioned closer to the employees’ entrance, ensuring fluid circulation and supporting a dynamic, welcoming daily environment.
