Veldekens – AG offices

Scope

With two finalized buildings in Brussels and Charleroi, we move on to Antwerp to reveal our renovation of AG’s workspaces. Covering a total of approximately 4,400 m² across two full floors, with partial interventions on the ground floor and first floor, the newly delivered offices are the latest addition to the “Reinventing Workplace” project.

Design approach

Across all AG projects, people and interaction are at the heart of a shared-use philosophy, that guides spatial layout in response to each specific context.

For AG Antwerp, the main distinction was working within a leased space, as the building - unlike those in Brussels and Charleroi - is not owned by AG. As a result, the layout and finishing choices were largely influenced by the building’s technical constraints, with interventions kept as minimal and low-impact as possible.

The city of Antwerp, with its strong fashion culture and refined reputation, inspired the project’s detailing and atmosphere, shaping the moodboard and color palette while bringing fabric, craftsmanship, and elegance into focus.

Harmony Through contrast

The building’s configuration composed of two contrasting volumes - one in brick and the other fully glazed - drove the spatial strategy and the placement of collective and focused areas. A subtle interplay of solid, colored-block elements and glazed cutouts balances light, open spaces with more intimate, sheltered zones, reinforcing visual continuity, rhythm, and transversality throughout the building.

The material palette rests on a bright base of wood and warm neutral tones, punctuated by bold accents, statement lighting, and sophisticated fabrics by Belgian designers such as Raf Simons and Vincent Van Duysen, as a subtle nod to Antwerp’s distinctive style.

ART integration

Textile artists were selected to bring a layer of detail and poetry to spaces such as Generations, where the intricate weavings of Emma Terweduwe and the delicate, refined pieces of Camille Truyffaut are showcased.

On the ground floor, Maude Sauvage drops a touch of color in the hall, while Emma Terweduwe completes the private dining area with another piece, adding to the carefully curated mix of reused and new furniture and accessories.
